In fact, you could grow the first batch in spring, the second in early summer and the last one in later summer or early fall.

While it will not take you as long to grow peas as with melons, pumpkins or zucchini, you will still need more time for it compared to growing carrots, lettuce or spinach.

On average, it will take you around two months to grow peas from seed to harvest, even though it can also take you a lot longer.

You could also just grow peas on compost. In fact, peas grow quite well on compost since it is rich in nutrients and also loose enough so that excess water can run off properly.

Peas generally need a lot of water to grow well. However, while your plants are still young, they will not consume that much water.

Whether you have to water your plants on a regular basis greatly depends on the climatic conditions outdoors.

For instance, if it rains outside and you grow peas in your garden, there will be no need to water your plants at all.

However, during dry periods of the year, you will have to water your plants much more often.

Should you use filtered or unfiltered water to water peas?

You should use unfiltered instead of filtered water for watering peas since it is just more natural.

Moreover, it is also not worth your time to filter water for gardening purposes and you should rather use your time for things that are more important and can have a significant impact instead.

Should you use rainwater to water peas?

If you want to pinch out pea plants, you should do so outdoors in your garden instead of indoors in your home to keep away garden pests from your four walls and also to avoid a mess inside your home.

You will also have much more space outdoors which makes pruning your plants much easier.

Can you grow peas without fertilizer?

The better the soil mix you provide to pea plants, the better the chance that you don’t have to add additional fertilizer to the soil.

However, if you really want to maximize pea yields, you should still use some natural fertilizer to give your plants everything they need to produce the highest yields possible.

Should you cover pea plants to protect them against frost?

There is no need to cover your plants and to alter lighting conditions to protect them from frost as long as you wait with growing peas outdoors until you don’t expect frost anymore. Hence, covering your plants will not be necessary at all.
